To a well-trained dog, nothing is more exciting than finding a bomb.

When Lucca, a German shepherd–Belgian Malinois mix, smelled explosives in the Nahri Saraj District of Afghanistan in March 2012, her tail started wagging. She looked toward her handler, Marine Corporal Juan Rodriguez. He patted her side and said in a singsong voice, "Good girl, Lucca!" before alerting his unit that Lucca had found a hidden improvised explosive device.

The thirteen-year war in Afghanistan was the longest in American history. The Iraq War lasted another eight, and America's involvement in both countries has not truly ended.

In both cases, American troops faced insurgents whose most lethal weapon was the improvised explosive device (IED): explosives rigged to radio transmitters, timers, or motion sensors (stripped from washing machines, security floodlights, and garage openers) and buried along routes taken by American patrols.

The Department of Defense spent $19 billion researching the best way to detect IEDs before settling on an old technology: dogs. Lucca was one of over 2,500 dogs trained to associate the scent of explosives with a reward, teamed up with a soldier-handler, and sent to Afghanistan or Iraq.

Ever since the busty entertainer broke the news on one of her social media pages, her fans have been suggesting that the man will definitely be a foreigner and though Cossy refused to tell of his identity, she however shot herself in the leg when she said she won't be relocating after marriage and will in fact encourage her man to invest in Nigeria.  Cossy spoke to Saturday Beats who had called to ask her more about her said marriage and Cossy has this to say;

"I am not getting married because I am pregnant. I am walking down the aisle with the man of my dreams because both of us are in love with each other. It is a feeling of pure love. I am hoping to get married abroad most especially in Las Vegas but I don't know about my man. I chose Las Vegas because I like the city and its scenery.

"I am still going to be in Nigeria after marriage. Rather than leave the country, I would encourage my man to start up a business here in Nigeria. I am not the type of lady that would leave my fatherland."


She however says she might not change her lifestyle even after marriage. Hear her;


"I don't know if my style would change but the person I am with likes me the way I am. He is not complaining. I am not going to divulge much information about my man till the D-day but he is not in the Nigerian entertainment industry," she said.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has challenged President Mohammadu Buhari to direct the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to charge the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh to court if the commission was sure of evidences of fraud against him, saying; "the EFCC appears to be operating a system in which an accused person is
first arrested, detained endlessly while the anti-corruption agency goes about looking for evidence."
Governor Fayose, who maintained his support for a genuine fight against corruption, challenged the EFCC to also act on petitions submitted to it against All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains and President Buhari's election sponsors.
Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose cautioned that nothing untoward must happen to Metuh, adding that the APC's desperation to decimate and silence the opposition has dragged the Buhari-led government in the mud of lawlessness.
The governor said; "In saner climes, you don't arrest people for alleged fraud and start to look for evidence to prosecute them. Rather, before you arrest anyone for fraud, anti-corruption agencies
must have established a prima facie case and arresting the suspect will only be to enable for his or her arraignment in court.
"However, what we are witnessing in Nigeria today is a situation whereby the EFCC will arrest PDP leaders, humiliate them by subjecting them to media trial, detain them for weeks in the process of trying to force them to make statements during which the commission will be looking for evidence.
"For instance, in the case of Metuh, we are being told that the EFCC is insisting that he must write statements and one begins to wonder if it has now become mandatory for an accused to write statements in law enforcement agent's custody. Shouldn't the EFCC have simply charged Metuh to court based on its own evidence? Or is Metuh's statement the evidence the EFCC requires to prosecute him?
"The international community, especially the United Nations (UN), African Union (AU), European Union (EU) and others are put on notice on this condemnable act of arresting and detaining opposition leaders by agents of the Buhari-led government before fishing for evidence."
While challenging the President Buhari to extend his anti-corruption crusade to those who sponsored his election, Governor Fayose said; any anti-corruption effort that targets only members of the opposition and those with axe to grind with the government of the day can never succeed.
"If President Buhari did not wait for any petition to move against PDP chieftains, asking people to come forward with allegations of corruption against APC chieftains, especially those who sponsored President Buhari's election is clearly hypocritical.
"Most importantly, that the EFCC Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu even said the commission do not have any petition against APC chieftains when indeed there are loads of petitions against ministers serving in Buhari's government and other notable APC chieftains goes to show the hypocrisy of the fight against corruption.
"It is even more hypocritical and anti-democratic for the President to have turned himself to the accuser, prosecutor and judge, carrying on as if those he accused of corruption have already been convicted," the governor said.

Governor Fayose of Ekiti State has challenged President Buhari to direct the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC to charge the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olisa Metuh, to court if they have any evidence against him. According to Fayose who says he supports the fight against corruption says, the agency are not doing their job the right way.

Fayose accused EFCC of arresting PDP chieftains, before looking for evidence against them. He also challenged the president to prosecute APC chieftains whom people have written petitions against but the EFCC are yet to look into such books.

Fayose while speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka in a statement said;

A former minister of information, and governor of the old Anambra State, Chief Jim Nwobodo, on Friday defected to the All Progressive Congress.

Nwobodo, a former Senator and presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, attended an APC meeting, reportedly convened by Foreign Affairs minister, Dr. Jeffrey Onyeama, in Enugu.

He declared his membership of the party at the meeting, to the surprise of most of the APC members present at the event.

A former PDP senator from Enugu State, Chief Fidelis Okoro, also defected to the APC at the meeting. Okoro was in the Senate between 1999 and 2007.

The Police at Lion Building Division, Lagos Island, western Nigeria have arrested a 23-year-old suspected fake dancing promoter, Damilola Joseph for allegedly obtaining seven phones from six women to qualify them for a dancing competition at a hotel on Victoria Island.

Police alleged that after the suspect collected the expensive phones from the victims, he sold them off and escaped.

Police said nemesis caught up with the suspect when the victims reported the incident to the DPO in charge of Lion Building division, Lagos Island, CSP Anthonia Tanaruno.

Following the report, the DPO directed a team led by Inspector Elegbede Oluranti to fish out the suspect anywhere he may be found and the suspect was traced and arrested at a hotel on Lagos Island.

The suspect was arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrates' court on a six-count charge of felony to wit: stealing.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Ingonbo Emby, informed the court that the accused deceived the complainants that he was a dancing competition promoter at a hotel on Victoria Island, Lagos and he tricked and collected seven expensive phones from them to qualify them for a dancing competition.

Emby told the court that the accused collected Infinix Hot note phone valued at N30,000 and N10,000 cash from Sarah Ononiwu at Tokunbo street, Lagos Island, Samsung Galaxy phone valued at N70,000 and N7,000 cash from Ibukun Oluwa Yusuf at Down Town Hotel, 91, Olushi Street, Lagos Island, Infinix Hot note phone valued at N30,000 and N5,000 cash from Esther Richard at Down Town Hotel, 91 Olushi Street, Lagos Island.

Emby said the accused also collected Q10 phone valued at N46,000 from Oluwakemisola Okeseyin at Down Town Hotel, 91, Olushi street,Lagos Island, a phone valued at N15,000 from Judith Ezulike at Crown Inn Hotel, 40, Bamgbose Street, Lagos Island and iphone 5S valued at N135,000 and Camon C8 phone valued at N26,000 from Ajand Damilola at New World Hotel, Hawley street, Lagos Island to qualify them for a dancing competition which did not materialize.

Emby noted that the offences the accused committed are punishable under section 285 of the criminal laws of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, denied the allegation in the open court and Magistrate Mr. Balogun admitted him to bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Balogun adjourned the case till 15 January, 2016 for mention while the defendant was taken to Ikoyi prison, Lagos pending when he will fulfill his bail condition.

The Hill: 'American Sniper' widow questions Obama on gun control

President Obama fielded a question during his town hall on guns Thursday night from Taya Kyle, the widow of the late Navy SEAL Chris Kyle who was portrayed in the blockbuster film "American Sniper."

"I think that your message of hope is something I agree with. I think it's great. And I think that by creating new laws you do give people hope," Taya Kyle told Obama during the town hall on CNN.

"The thing is that the laws we create don't stop these horrific things from happening, right? And that's a very tough pill to swallow," Kyle added.

Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide was on Thursday, hit by tragedy with the news that the head of its Nigeria Diocese, Baba Are, died from a fire incident, which gutted his Ikorodu home in Lagos State.

Reports from E24-7 indicated that the fire was caused by a power surge.

His wife and his children were said to have managed to escape the fire, but Baba Are, who suffered from a stroke, which left him immobile, was totally burnt beyond recognition on his bed.


The octogenarian cleric, until his death, was the number three man in Celestial Church's hierarchy.
